» Licensing the Ashampoo DiscForge SDKs

The Ashampoo DiscForge SDKs have a simple, royalty-free licensing structure for products whose primary function is not disc recording (please contact us if you're interested in obtaining a license for a product whose primary function is disc recording). The licensing fee for the SDK depends on the number of developers that work with it. Each developer that uses the SDK has to have a license (a developer "uses" the SDK if he writes code that accesses the SDK's functions directly or indirectly).

Licenses can be purchased separately or in packages. Different prices apply to the two different SDKs that we offer.

The licenses include:

  • The permission for licensed developers to create as many products with the SDK as they want (as long as disc recording is not the product's primary function - see above). We do not charge any royalties.
  • Unlimited free updates (which add support for new devices and/or fix other issues that may have been found).
  • Free integration support for 30 days after the purchase (i.e. support for technical issues that may occur during the integration of the SDK into your products)


The licenses do NOT include:

  • New features that we might add - these may require an upgrade fee to be unlocked.
  • End user support


In addition to the basic license, we also offer the following:

  • Longer integration support: you can purchase a support contract at the price of 500 EUR per year and developer to get integration support after the initial 30 days.
  • Second level email support for end users (in english and german). When your support staff has problems helping your end users with CD/DVD recording related problems then you can forward these cases to us by email and we will then work with the users to solve the problem. We charge 80 EUR for each support case that we handle for you. One support case includes all follow-ups that might arise from the initial problem report.
